Student organization hosts alumni panel for interested members

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – PRSSA is hosting a virtual Zoom Alumni Panel with four UofM graduates who will discuss how PRSSA is valuable to students and chat about their current stage in their professional life and how they got there. The webinar will be conducted Oct. 4, 2022.

The three alumni who will speak at the event are Janay Jeans, Kix Patterson, Kyland Evans, and Aly Brandon.

According to Kim Marks Malone, APR, Fellow PRSA, the agency’s faculty adviser, students from all majors who are interested in developing their communication skills and learning about a career in Public Relations should attend the meeting.

“I think students are sometimes hesitant to join PRSSA – or any student organization- for several reasons. One big reason is the cost. Students want to be sure that they are getting benefits and values from their hard-earned dollars,” said Marks.

The webinar will focus on how alumni became successful after college and how PRSSA accelerated that growth. The association has assembled a panel of guest speaker with varying career paths, including academia, agency, and private sector.

“It’s scary to take the next step,” Oakley Weddle, PRSSA President said. “Our goal is to provide opportunities, like this webinar, to ease those fears and help prepare students for ‘what’s next.’”
